This 8 days affordable Kenya Safari vacation: Samburu, Mount Kenya, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara is a great economic adventure safari, for individuals, groups, and for family holidays. Starting at the Northern frontier of the Kenya safari circuits, you encounter the Samburu special five which are: Somali Ostrich, the Grevy’s Zebra Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Gerenuk antelope.

After 2 days of discovering the Samburu special five and more, we leave the arid surrounding behind and make a stop at the Mount Kenya region at the Aberdares National Park. You have the chance to visit the Mau Mau Caves to explore and learn about how the Mau Mau freedom fighters survived in the jungle. The nature walk along the caves is a serene experience.

The next stop on the safari adventure will be at the Lake Nakuru National Park, where you the pink flamingoes on the shores of the Lake offer a charming welcome. You are also guaranteed of seeing the endangered black and white Rhinos here and so much more wildlife.

This 8 days Kenya safari vacation will end in the Masai Mara, the most famous wildlife park in Kenya and home to the big five and much more wildlife.

Day 1: Drive from Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

The safari drive from Nairobi takes us through the central Kenya highlands, as the landscape transforms to an arid one as you approach the northern tourist circuit, in Kenya and your destination, Samburu National Reserve. You arrive in the afternoon, for a late safari as you enjoy the stunning sights on the arid plains. Later we head back to our lodge for a sumptuous dinner before you get a good sleep. – Samburu Lodge/ Samburu Sopa Lodge etc.

Day 2: Exploring the Samburu National Reserve Plains

Full day spent in Samburu Game Reserve. The safari tour starts with breakfast at your lodge, and as the sun rises, we head to the bush to explore the arid plains. The giraffes wander through the trees, while the elephants romp on the shallow ends of the Ewaso Ng’iro River. The river is the source of water for Samburu. If you are lucky you can spot the Samburu special five, which are the Somali Ostrich, Beisa Oryx, gerenuk antelope, and the grevy’s zebra. At Shaba Springs, you can also find the endangered Williamson’s lark. These are just some of the unique cast of the Samburu National Park. After your picnic lunch, your game viewing will continue until the evening, where you can go back to the lodge. You can also choose to take a guided nature walk or visit one of the cultural villages and learn about the lifestyle of the Samburu communities. – Samburu Lodge/ Samburu Sopa Lodge etc.

Day 3: Samburu-Mount Kenya

You will have one last short game drive in Samburu National Reserve for a last chance to see wildlife that you had not seen the previous days. Later you exit the park and head back to the Mount Kenya region, stopping at the equator line to take photos and learn more about the significance of the imaginary line, geographically. Proceed to your lodge, the Treetops Lodge, the environment here changing to a serene and calmer, due to the cool breeze coming from the forested ecosystem. There is a waterhole located on the lodge grounds, and some of the hotel balconies provide vantage viewpoints for game viewing coming to the waterhole. Wildlife sightings in Aberdares National Park include Giant Forest Hog, bongo, golden cat, African civet cat, and serval cat. The park forested ravines are also habitat to Black rhinos, spotted hyenas, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs, bushbucks, leopards among many others. This park is also known for its birdlife, with over 250 species recorded here, among them, Plovers, sunbirds, eagles, Jackson’s Francolin, Sparrow hawks and eagles. A safari at the Aberdares National Park will leave you with unique memories found nowhere else in Kenya. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge. Treetops Lodge.

Day 4: Mount Kenya – Lake Nakuru

This Kenya safari vacation takes you on a nature walk adventure. After Breakfast, we shall take a nature walk to the Mau Mau Caves to see where the local fighters for independence used to hide, during the colonial times. Later we shall leave the Mount Kenya region and head proceed to Lake Nakuru, taking in the beautiful landscape on the way. This park is one of the most beautiful parks in East Africa, is known for its large population of bird species as a rhino sanctuary. The black and white rhinos can be found here, and the Rothschild’s giraffe. The park is unique, not only in Kenya but in Africa as well, with the biggest euphorbia forest, yellow acacia woodlands and picturesque landscape. Over 56 species can be found here, including the waterbucks. Upon arrival, you can have a short game drive or just relax in the hotel as you enjoy the cool serene environment. Dinner and overnight shall be at the lodge. Lake Nakuru Lodge/Flamingo Lodge.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru- Lake Naivasha (Hell’s Gate National Park)

After your breakfast, your guide will pick you from the hotel and head to the Lake Nakuru National Park for an extensive game drive. This park is a bird lover’s paradise; over 400 species of birds have been recorded here. The pink flamingos paint the lake shores a vivid pink color, contrasting the black and white stripes of the zebras grazing around the lake. Tree climbing lions can be seen on the tree branches, staring at your safari vehicle. The endangered white and black rhinos pass by your safari van before they walk on. Looking closely in the trees, you will spot the antelopes, giraffes and gazelles. Later we will exit the park and head to Naivasha with lunch en-route. Arriving in the late afternoon, we will check-in to our hotel. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge. Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge/Sawela Lodge, etc.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha – Masai mara

Early breakfast, then proceed to the Hell’s Gate National Park. This is the only park where you can take a bicycle ride as you see the animals. You can hire a bicycle and follow the zebra trails as you see other animals. You can also do rock climbing here and hiking around the Hell’s Gate Gorges. At the end of the game drive, you can spice your safari experience with a boat ride at the Lake Naivasha as you marvel at the hippos. Later we will leave Lake Naivasha and head back to Masai Mara Game Reserve, with lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight shall be at your lodge. Day 7: Full day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve

Your safari vacation is an incredible Kenya adventure safari with a hot air balloon safari in it. (You have an option to start the day with a hot air balloon safari, at an extra cost, available on pre-arrangement)

You leave the lodge with picnic lunches in the morning and head to the park for a full day of exploring the stunning wild plains of Masai Mara. The extensive road networks in Masai Mara enable you to get a close encounter of wildlife throughout your game viewing during the day. Hyenas can be seen scavenging for a meal, while a lion chases its prey, zebras huddle together in numbers for safety. Large herds of elephants can be seeing roaming on the plains, while the elusive leopard tries to hide on top of a tree; a buffalo fights a lion pride trying to make it their food for the day. These are just some of the surreal safari experience moments found in Masai Mara. In the months of July- October, you may witness the annual stunning spectacle in this reserve, watching the Wildebeest Migration, whereby millions of wildebeest and zebras, cross over from the neighboring Serengeti to Masai Mara, looking for greener pastures. You will have your lunch beside a hippo pool as you watch out for the hippos and crocodiles. Later your Kenya safari adventure will continue with a game drive in of the expansive Masai Mara plains. After the game drive, An optional local Masai Village visit can be arranged at the end of the day at an extra cost. Later we will go back to the lodge, for dinner and overnight. Day 8: Masai Mara to Nairobi

After breakfast check out, and go for a short game drive in Masai Mara, where you have a chance the spot wildlife for the last time. Later leave Masai Mara via Narok arriving in Nairobi in the evening, drop of at the hotel or be transferred to airport. You will depart Africa with wonderful wild memories of your Kenya safari that will last you a lifetime.
