Day 1: Nairobi
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport and transfer to the hotel of our choice or one booked upon agreement. We will later proceed on a Nairobi city tour to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage ( depending on your arrival time) giraffe centre, Karen Blixen Museum, and if time allows the National Museum. Dinner at Carnivore Restaurantis recommended.
Day 2: Nairobi-Samburu National Reserve
Pick up from the hotel at around 0800hr – 0830hrs, you commence the drive to Samburu National Reserve. This adventure to Kenya’s northern tourist circuit is one of the best parts of your Kenya safari. You get to stop on the equator line where you can take photos and learn about the geographic importance of the equator line. You continue with our drive with lunch en-route, arriving in the evening in time for a short game viewing session before you rest. The plains of Samburu offer you a surreal safari experience; you can see mammals feeding, the elephants, and others like impalas, grevy’s zebra, and the gran’s gazelle, which huddle together for safety. Your next day will give you more time to explore the unique wildlife and flora found here. Dinner and overnight will be at a camp.
Day 3: A full day exploring the wonders of Samburu
After your early breakfast, you will spend the day in Samburu National Park, searching for the game found here. Discover the Samburu special five which include Beisa Oryx, gerenuk antelope, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, and the Somali ostrich. You will have an extended game drive that will take you to the Buffalo springs and the banks of Ewaso Ngiro River where the Kenya wildlife is more concentrated. Lions, Leopards, and elephants may also be seen here. You will have a picnic lunch in the park and continue with your game viewing till the evening, where you can return to the camp, you can visit the Samburu women, or just rest. Dinner and overnight is at the budget camp.
Day 4: Samburu National Reserve -Mount Kenya
After breakfast, we will have a short game drive as we exit the park, the landscape is the scenery and very beautiful as you weave your way from Samburu National Park. The rolling hills provide a good view as head on to Mount Kenya arriving at Nanyuki town base hotel, for lunch followed by an afternoon of optional activities. Dinner and overnight shall be in Simba Hotel.
Day 5: Mount Kenya – Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, your adventure drive will continue, with a visit to Mau Mau caves where the freedom fighters use to hide during the Second World War and nature walk along the base of Mount Kenya. Later we leave the Mount Kenya region for Lake Nakuru. You will pass by the Nyahururu; take photos at the Thomson’s Falls and into the Rift Valley, with lunch on the way. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Lake Nakuru National Park – Maasai Mara
We savor an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is widely known for its prolific birdlife which offers a beautiful spectacle on the shorelines of the lake. The undulated terrain dominating the park offers a majestic scenic view for game viewing. The Lake Nakuru National Park is also a Rhino sanctuary, which comprises of the endangered white and black rhino. More wildlife like the buffalos, tree-climbing lions, giraffes, Zebras, gazelles, and more can be found on the shores of the lake hunting for prey and grazing respectively. Later we exit this park and head to Masai Mara National Game reserve. Upon arrival, we will have a short game drive, before we have our dinner. Dinner and overnight will be at the camp.
Day 7: A full day of adventure in Masai Mara
(You have an option to start the day with a balloon safari, at an extra cost, available on pre-arrangement)
After breakfast, you will proceed on a full day of game viewing adventure within the reserve. This reserve offers a varied wildlife experience, from the large numbers of wildlife to the scenic and stunning savannah Masai plains, to the Masai culture experience. Traversing the Masai Mara for a full day game drive, you will see the big five, the pride of lions, elephant herds, the rhinoceros, the giraffes and so much more. In this reserve, you are assured of real close encounters with the wildlife. As we follow the wildlife road tracking networks, we will get to the Mara River, where you can watch the hippos and crocodiles. Depending on your timing, you can also witness millions of wildebeest crossing this river from the neighboring Serengeti, to look for greener pastures in Masai Mara. The Wildebeest Migration is one of the world’s annual spectacular events in the Masai Mara. You will have your picnic lunch in the park and continue with your game viewing with more of the big five and the lesser-known game encounters till sunset. You have an optional activity of visiting a Masai Village at an extra cost of 10 $ per person. Dinner and overnight shall be at your camp.
Day 8: Maasai Mara – Nairobi
Early morning game drive in Masai Mara followed by breakfast at 9:30 Am at the camp. Masai Mara provides a perfect African adventure safari. You will have seen the zebras, lions, or even the black rhinos and the other members of the big five and more. This Kenya safari experience and the Masai Mara will leave you with unique memories and appreciation for the vast beauty of this wilderness. Later depart for Nairobi stopping sporadically for the breathtaking panoramic views of the rift valley and adjacent landforms. You will arrive back in Nairobi in the afternoon. Drop off at a place of choice either hotel or airport.
