If you are looking for a city escape, sheer adventure, then a hike at the Mt Longonot is a perfect getaway for you. You depart Nairobi in the morning and drive along the Rift Valley Escarpment, with a stop at the view-point, to marvel at the stunning magical view of the Great Rift Valley landscape. You also have a chance to capture your memorable moments here. You start your assent at a very steep slope with your armed guide who will be with you all the way. The hike at the Mt Longonot will take you around the Crater rim in 4 hours. Mt Longonot is an extinct volcano ascending from the floor of the Great Rift Valley like a monolith. A unique feature is the thick forest that lies within the crater of the mountain. The crater rim also provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley all the way to Lake Naivasha. Wildlife attractions at the Mount Longonot include the elands, bushbucks, common zebra, grant’s gazelles, buffaloes, giraffes and even leopards. You will have stops on the way and down to catch your breath.
