Day by day

Day 1
Entebbe or Kampala → Kibale
Leave Entebbe or Kampala in the morning and drive west through farmland and tea estates towards Fort Portal, with the Rwenzori Mountains often visible on the horizon. Arrive in the Kibale area in the afternoon, where crater lakes sit among the hills. Settle into your lodge and, time permitting, take an easy walk in the surrounding countryside.
Day 2
Kibale Forest → Queen Elizabeth
After an early breakfast, join a ranger-led chimpanzee tracking walk in Kibale Forest National Park, home to a large population of chimpanzees and many other primates, including red colobus and L'Hoest's monkeys. Chimpanzees move quickly through the forest, so sightings vary, but their calls often carry through the trees. Afterwards, drive south past crater lakes and tea country to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the night.
Day 3
Queen Elizabeth → Bwindi
Head out on a morning game drive across the Kasenyi plains, where Uganda kob, buffalo, elephant and lion may be encountered in open grassland dotted with euphorbia trees. Then drive south through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth, where lions are known to rest in fig trees, and climb into the green, terraced hills of south-western Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for the night.
Day 4
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Begin early with the ranger briefing and your trek to a habituated mountain gorilla family, spending up to an hour with them once found. Treks vary in length, from under an hour to most of the day, depending on where the gorillas are. Afterwards, return to your lodge on the forest edge for a second night in the Bwindi area.
Day 5
Bwindi → Entebbe or Kampala
After breakfast, begin the return to Entebbe or Kampala, leaving the forested hills of Bwindi behind. The journey is long, and the travel arrangement — by road or by a domestic flight where available — is confirmed at booking, together with the timing for this final day. Keeping the gorilla trek on the previous day means this day is set aside for travel, with no need to hurry out of the forest. The safari ends on arrival in Entebbe or Kampala.
