Day 1
Entebbe or Kampala → Bwindi
Set off early from Entebbe or Kampala for the long drive to south-western Uganda. The road crosses the equator, passes banana plantations and rolling farmland, and climbs into the terraced hills of Kigezi before reaching Bwindi in the evening. After a full day on the road, settle into your lodge on the forest edge and prepare for tomorrow's trek.
Day 2
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, report to the park office for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, who assign you to a habituated gorilla family. Trek through steep, dense forest with your guides and trackers; the walk can take from under an hour to most of the day. Once the family is found, you spend up to one hour observing them quietly before returning to the lodge.
Day 3
Bwindi → Entebbe or Kampala
After breakfast, leave Bwindi and drive back through the green hills of south-western Uganda, with a lunch stop on the way. There is time to stretch your legs at the equator line before reaching Entebbe or Kampala in the evening, where the trip ends with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport for a late flight.
