Day 1
Nairobi → Amboseli
Your guide collects you from your hotel, residence or the airport for the drive south to Amboseli National Park. The road crosses open rangeland used by Maasai herders, with Kilimanjaro's bulk gradually appearing on the horizon when skies are clear. Arrive at your lodge in time to settle in for dinner, with the option to visit a local community if you are interested in the area's culture.
Day 2
Amboseli National Park
Spend a whole day in Amboseli National Park — and no Amboseli safari feels complete without lunch in the shade of a tree in the bush. The park is one of the best places in Africa to watch large elephant herds, and its swamps also attract buffalo, lion, cheetah, ostrich, jackal, hyena and zebra. Close encounters make for excellent photography, and the evening light over Kilimanjaro can be unforgettable.
Day 3
Amboseli → Nairobi
After breakfast, enjoy a final short game drive on your way out of Amboseli, a last look at the elephant herds that move between the swamps and the dusty plains beneath Kilimanjaro. From here you can continue towards Mombasa for time on the coast, or return to Nairobi through the Maasai rangeland of the south, arriving in the evening for drop-off at your hotel or the airport. It is an easy close to a short, focused lodge safari.
